The term “vital Qi” is also called “vital energy” or “primordial Qi” in the native medical literatures. It refers to the resistance to disease, the adaptability to the change of internal and external environment, and the capacity of self-remedy (self-healing). Practically, it implies the sum of all aspects of disease-resistance in human body. The so-called “pathogenic Qi” actually means the sum of all internal and external pathogenic factors. The invasion of “pathogenic Qi” always occurs when the vital Qi has been weakened. Suwen Yipian, Cifalun of Huangdineijing (an ancient medical literature) stated that: “The interference of ‘pathogen’ can always be avoided as long as the internal vital Qi exists”. Lingshu, Baibing Shishengpian of Huangdineijing also said that: “Any ‘pathogen’, no matter of what type, including wind, rain, cold and hot, may not cause damage to human by itself if there is no deficiency.……It is the encounter of ‘pathogen’ with deficiency that initiates the occurrence of disease”.So, as early as over 2000 years ago, our ancient medical philosophers already realized that disease might not come true by ‘pathogen’ only, unless the vital energy had been weakened. In other words, although “pathogen” is the pathogenic factor, but the critical basis of disease occurrence relies on the state of vital Qi. Accordingly, the key in disease treatment is to rectify the balance between vital Qi and ‘pathogen’, i.e., by means of supporting the vital Qi and dispelling the “pathogen”, thus to accelerate the step of fully recovery. opposite factors in the body; one is pathogen, and another is self-healing (“vital Qi”). The latent power of self-healing is tremendous. The distinctive classicality of Anyu’s therapeutic measure for supporting the “vital Qi” and dispelling the “pathogen” is based on mobilizing the power of self-healing. It depends mainly on enhancing one’s resistance to expel the “pathogen” and remove the pathogenic factors, thus leading to cure the disease. |
The traditional medication theory adopted by Anyu is just in accordance with the results of modern medical research. Modern pharmacological research has demonstrated that the traditional Chinese medical formulae may act upon and influence the human body in 8 aspects relating to different therapeutic goals—— 1. Promoting both the nonspecific resistance and the specific immunity. 2. Stimulating and regulating the function of nervous system; and a portion of invigorating formulae may have calmative effect on nervous system. |
3. Improving the endocrine function. 4. Regulating the metabolism of nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids, as well as the energy metabolism. 5. Enhancing the adaptability of the body, strengthening the nonspecific resistance against various harmful stimulations, and rectifying the disordered body function. 6. Enhancing the contractibility of heart, promoting vasodilatation, improving microcirculation, depressing blood pressure, anti-arrhythmia, and anti-myocardial ischemia. 7. Regulating the function of vegetative nervous system and improving digestive and absorptive function. 8. Promoting the improvement of hemopoietic function. |
