Ling Bei Tong Dan No.2 (Back pain-relieving pellet No. 2)
[Main components] Root of doubleteeth pubescent angelica (radix Angelica pubescens), eucommia bark (cortex Eucommia ulmoides), siebold wildginger herb (herba Asarum sieboldi), and others (processed from pure traditional Chinese medicine, none of western medicine is included).
[Efficacy] Dredge meridians, nourish liver and kidney.
[Indications] Back pain due to renal asthenia.
[Explanation of the prescription] Yixuerumen wenzheng stated that: “Shoulder and back pain,┈┈severe pain is induced by exogenous attack, and long-lasting pain is owing to asthenia accompanied by stagnation.” Deficiency of lever and kidney or when back is attacked by pathogenic cold and dampness may cause back pain or even restriction in motility. Kidney dominates bones, renal asthenia will fail to nourish tendon and bone and cause osteoporosis. In this prescription, drugs for nourishing liver and kidney are chosen as the “monarch” to strengthen tendon and bone; drugs for activating blood, eliminating wind and dredging collaterals are chosen as the “minister”. Such composition may function together to invigorate liver and kidney, strengthen tendon and bone, strengthen healthy Qi to eliminate pathogenic factors, thus can exert the effect of simultaneous treatment of the branch and root.
[Curative effect] The curative effect may generally be felt 1-3 days, and symptoms may disappear about 5-10 days after medication. Recovery can be achieved after consolidation.
[Precaution] (1) Tea drinking is forbidden 15 min. before and 30 min. after medication. [Efficacy] Reinforce kidney to strengthen waist.
[Indications] Strain of lumbar muscles, aching and pain of waist due to renal asthenia. |
[Explanation of the prescription] Huangdineijing Suwen Maiyaojingweilun pointed out that: “The lumbar region is the house of the kidney. Incapable of rotating implies exhaustion of kidney.” It means that lumbago is mostly due to renal asthenia. In this prescription, drugs for warming and reinforcing vital gate are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for supplementing and invigorating kidney essence are chosen as the “minister”. [Efficacy] Replenish liver and kidney, invigorate Qi and blood, expel wind and dampness, and relieve obstruction and pain.
[Indications] Long-lasting wind-dampness, cool and pain in two legs, and restricted motility of joints. |
